Carol (Smith) Odell, 87, of Baldwinsville, passed away on Wednesday. Born and raised in Syracuse, Carol graduated from St. John's the Evangelist High School, class of 1949. She completed her studies at Trinity Washington University in Washington, DC. Before settling in the Syracuse area, she had resided in Clifton Park, NY and Cooperstown, NY. Carol was employed as a Sales Associate retiring from Eddie Bauer in Syracuse. Her memberships included the Red Hat Society and Camillus Elks Lodge 2367 Ladies Auxiliary. She was a parishioner of St. Augustine's Church in Baldwinsville. Carol was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an excellent seamstress, especially making her Christmas stockings for all of her family. She is predeceased by her husband Charles E. Odell of April of this year, her son Jim Odell and two sisters, Lynn Perkins and Bobbie Murphy.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her son, John (Audrey) Odell of Camillus, two daughters, Susan (Raymond) Brown and Ann (David) Bridge both of Baldwinsville, daughter-in-law, Vicki Odell of North Syracuse, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, her brother, Edward J. (Cindy) Smith of Skaneateles, NY, brother-in-law, Donald Murphy of Westvale, several nieces and nephews.
A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 from 10:00 to 11:00 am in St. Augustine's Church, 7333 O'Brien Road Baldwinsville, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be Celebrated at 11:00 am. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carol's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 441 W. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204-1305.
