On Saturday, October 26 ^th , Dean Northrop, age 59, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving wife and daughters, and his beloved dog. Dean was born in Camden, NJ on May 21 ^st , 1960 to Elizabeth and Wendell Northrop. He was raised in Basking Ridge, NJ, and graduated from Ridge High School in 1978. He received his BS in Occupational Therapy from Kean College in 1983. He worked as an OT in various schools and hospitals over 36 years, working in the Liverpool Central School District for 25 years. "Mr. Dean" brightened the days of students and coworkers with his compassion, energy, mischief, and contagious laugh. Dean had a strong faith and was an active member of King of Kings Lutheran Church. He was involved in youth education and was a beloved confirmation guide for many years.

One of Dean's biggest achievements was completing the Appalachian Trail as a section hiker. He loved to tell stories about the encounters and perils of his time on the trail. Dean met his wife, Susie, in a wedding in 1988, and they married in 1990. They created a beautiful family and loving home. Dean's greatest accomplishment was raising his daughters, Hannah and Emma. He was a supportive, devoted, and fun father. He was also a caring son, brother, and uncle to many. Dean was predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth and Wendell Northrop.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Northrop; daughters, Hannah and Emma Northrop; sister, Denise (Bill) Kipp; brother, Chris Shilinga (Kathleen Crusan); sister-in-law, Sharie Browning; five nieces, Natalia, Nalani, Chelsea, Christina, and Jennifer; many cousins, and great-nieces and nephews.

A Memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday, November 9th at 2:00pm at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 8278 Oswego Road, Liverpool.
