Obituary

Eugene Carl Schiefer, age 63, crossed over into the Kingdom of Heaven on Sunday, March 7, 2021.

Gene retired after 40+ years as an engineer where he was granted multiple patents. He was well known for being masterfully competitive, allowing him to champion any task before him, most notably his endless pursuit to love and protect his family. Gene showed his love and care for others through food, by creating unforgettable meals and memories, and in always asking "What's for dinner?".

Gene was preceded in his death by his father, Carl E. Schiefer and granddaughter Kinslee Schiefer.

Gene leaves behind with heavy hearts his mother, Edna Schiefer; his loving wife, Lorrie Schiefer; his sisters, Joann Schiefer, Heidi Rightmeyer, and Carol Schiefer; his children, Christina Schiefer, Kimberlee (Jim) Peterson, Karl (Kristen) Schiefer and Kenneth (Amanda) Schiefer; his stepchildren, Brian Potter, Elisabeth (Brad) Parker, Scott (Casey) Potter and his twelve beloved grandchildren.

Gene's impact is immeasurable, evident by the countless letters and messages from colleagues, friends, and soccer team, "The Raptors". Gene had a passion to coach and mentor and would talk to anyone willing to listen. We will think of Gene whenever we see a kayak on Onondaga Lake, a rock-climbing wall, a soccer field or a pickleball court. He will be missed more than he could have ever known.

Services and burial for Gene will be private. In lieu of calling hours, please say a prayer or bring to mind a memory that you have of Gene on Friday, March 12, 2021 at 3:00pm. Donations can be made in Gene's name to either Golisano Children's Hospital or The American Cancer Association.
