March 2, 1933 – January 17, 2021
Robert A. Hodgson, 87 of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital surrounded by family. He was born on March 2, 1933 in Syracuse, NY, to Evelyn Shattuck Hodgson and Raymond Hodgson. After graduating Eastwood High School, Robert went to work and then retired from Niagara Mohawk (National Grid) after 38 years of being a Hot Stick Line Foreman. After retiring in 1991, Robert and his wife of 44 years Cynthia Knoop Halter Hodgson spent their winters at Limetree Park in Bonita Springs, Florida and their summers here at Paradise Cove in Sylvan Beach, Brennan's Beach in Pulaski and then Liverpool, NY.
Robert was members of the Niagara Mohawk Pension Club, IBEW Union 79 and the American Legion 188 in Liverpool, NY. While living in Bonita Springs, Fla., he was a member of the Elks Lodge 2753 and the Royal Order of the Moose 1454. Robert was an avid golfer in which he was a former member of the Casolwood Golf Club in Canastota. He also loved to bowl, boating and fishing on Oneida Lake. He also enjoyed hunting in his earlier years. Robert enjoyed being with his family and friends. Robert is predeceased by his parents and his brothers Richard (2001) and Jack (2005).
Robert is survived by his wife Cynthia, son Robert Hodgson of Cicero, daughter Vicki (Joe) Decoursey of York, SC, son Michael Hodgson of Marcellus, daughter Lori (Steve) Frantz of Syracuse, son Tim (Denise) Hodgson of Lafayette, son John Halter of Syracuse, Jacalyn Halter of Cicero, Jeff Halter of Central Square, Joe (Sabine) Halter of Amberg, Germany, 10 grandchildren; Tricia (Ricky) Lemmons, Kristen Freeman, Lauren (Matt) Hibbard, Daniel Halter, Shawn (Karyn) Hodgson, Kevin Halter, Emily Frantz, Timothy (TJ) Hodgson, Scott Hodgson, and Jordyn (Nick) Lee, 10 great grandchildren; Kaleb, Madison, Danika, Vienna, Gabriel, Riley, Baker, Lennox, Henry, and Logan and many nieces and nephews. We will all miss you!
Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 25, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at the Maurer Funeral Home, 300 Second Street, Liverpool.
